Description
San Francisco is the largest religious complex in South America, whose 70 years of construction began in 1536. Its walls bear the name and talent of the “Quito Art School” In its seven cloisters we find numerous rooms of great importance and the refectory (the largest of Quito convents) is an ideal space for plenary meetings; the auditorium of the Facultad Franciscana Cardenal Bernardino Echeverría; and a set of parallel chambers of extraordinary historical significance and architectural beauty. Marvel at one of the most important collections of colonial religious art and experience the splendor and tranquility of architecture built for eternity.
The San Francisco brewery was founded by Fray Jadoco Rique in 1566. The religious arrived from Flanders, present-day Belgium, and here he made the first New World beer.
